The Project
We delivered replacement classroom works at Telford Junior School, providing modern teaching facilities and improved access arrangements within a live school environment. The project involved the removal of an existing temporary classroom block and a dated corridor link to the library. The existing modular classroom was disconnected from all services prior to demolition, with affected areas made good.
The redevelopment included the construction of a new two-classroom block using traditional construction methods, together with the enclosure of the former corridor area to create a new library entrance with an external canopy. New mechanical and electrical systems were installed throughout, including heating, cooling and air conditioning systems. External works comprised a new access ramp with handrails, tarmac surfacing, and the reconfiguration of fencing and gates to maintain safeguarding and site security requirements.
A key challenge was delivering the project within a fully operational school, requiring careful planning to minimise disruption to staff and pupils.
