The Project
Hawker Construction Limited were appointed principal contractor on this project for a new mathematics department at a high school in Hinckley. With space at a premium we were able to reclaim an area of the field adjacent to the playground to form the new accommodation.
The main challenges with this project were working in a live school environment, managing the level differences, and resolving the surface water drainage issues.
The project is near to the front entrance of the school, so the logistics were managed very carefully to ensure minimal impact on the school. We graded the groundworks in a way that ensured the level access could be achieved and the raised seating area could be maintained, incorporating a new attenuation tank and land drains to resolve the ongoing issues the school had previously suffered from.
