The Brief
The North Star community trust found themselves with an old building that was still being used for teaching and for administration offices. The building looked run down. It had structural issues, failing windows, a leaking roof and was very inefficient to heat due to the poor thermal values of the original build.
The Solution
Hawker Construction started by taking down the parapet wall with the structural weaknesses and this was rebuilt on new foundations with an insulated cavity and a series of chemical anchors stabilising the old structure. A new parapet was formed around the roof with a new roof covering installed and new rainwater goods. All of the windows were replaced with energy efficient windows and the externals were all finished with an insulated render system. New external doors and access control systems were installed and areas of internal decorating were carried out to make good any disturbed areas.
TESTIMONIAL
The works left the Trust with an energy efficient building they could be proud of and use for years to come
